Microsoft lawyers is still fighting the U.S. government over user email privacy. In court last week, the company defended its right to ignore a search warrant which demands that the company turn over emails stored on servers outside of the United States. The case was heard in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City.

Adding the word "choice" or "choose" to a subject line can help increase sales. In fact, according to new metrics from Experian Marketing Services, these words generated 22 percent more revenue per email than on average and 46 percent higher transaction rates than other emails. The research also revealed that emails with a customer's first name in the subject line had a 20 percent above average open rate.

The app brings SMBs enterprise-level functions including: A/B testing, automation, and campaign reporting. Sales Cloud clients can scale up the services based on what they pay. Plans begin at $9 a month for those clients already paying $25 per month for up to five users.

According to a report in The Washington Times, Clinton is losing ground among Democrats thanks to her use of a private email server while serving as Secretary of State. Rival Senator Bernard Sanders has taken the lead in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Email campaigns that were targeted at 35 different subscribers generated open rates of 55 percent, much higher than average open rates of 22 percent, according to new research from Constant Contact. The research, which analyzed more than 100 billion customer emails sent by small businesses in 2014 and 2015, also found that nonprofit organizations see the highest open rates with an average open rate of 29 percent. B2C and B2B companies produce average open rates of 23 percent and 20 percent respectively.

Texting is a more effective channel in the office than email, according to the Australian Human Resources Institute. The organization found that the volume of email makes it a difficult channel to cut through the noise and they are often unimportant to business dealings. In fact, of the 100 billion emails sent per day and only 14 per cent of them are considered critical to the running of a business. Texts, on the other hand, are more immediate and urgent, the organization concludes.

The Indiana State Personnel Department has completed its investigation into whether or not state employees used government email accounts to use the adult website Ashley Madison. "No state employees were demoted, suspended or terminated as a result of Ashley Madison activity on their state email accounts," said Ashley Hungate, spokesperson for the State Personnel Department in a statement. The state looked at accounts from the state as well as the cities of Indianapolis, Carmel, Franklin, Bloomington, Greenwood and South Bend.
