• Netflix Reveals Price Hike Via Email
    Netflix is raising its prices again and the movie streaming site has emailed its customers letting them know. The email explains that the company raised prices for new members last year but now has to raise prices for long time subscribers. The rate hike is a mere $24 a year.
  • Talkspace Exposes Client Email Addresses
    Talkspace, a site for online therapy and counseling, has inadvertently exposed the email addresses of 18 patients. The issue happened after a former therapist complained about a regular practice that led to breach of confidentiality and filed a HIPAA violation. She then told her clients and have two weeks notice. In response, a Talkspace VP sent out an email condemning the therapist and did not bcc the 18 patients on the list.
  • Hackers Target .Gov Email Addresses
    Hackers have launched an attack on dot-gov (.gov) email inboxes, according to a new report from Krebs on Security. The emails are requests to join thousands of email lists. The attack was considered successful by several experts, in that it flooded the inboxes of the recipients for hours, keeping them from business as usual.
  • Clinton Told FBI That Colin Powell Suggested Private Email Account
    Hillary Clinton told FBI investigators that it was former Secretary of State Colin Powell's idea to use a personal email account. The FBI's investigation notes were released to Congress this week and The New York Times reported that Clinton told her that Powell suggested the idea to her at a dinner party. He reportedly told her that she should not use it for classified information.

    Software firm Dropsuite has released a new Microsoft Office 365 email backup and archiving tool called Dropmyemail (DME). The service is available only in Australia through a reseller partner Ozhosting. The service is targeting SMBs.

    Australian email marketing firm Campaign Monitor will soon open an office in London. The company already has an office in Sydney and an offices in California. The company's latest product is called the Visual Journey Designer, and is designed to make it very easy for email marketers to build personalized campaigns using simple drag-and-drop tools.
  • Finish Line Personalizes Emails to Drive Engagement
    Athletic shoe and apparel retailer Finish Line relies on contextual emails to help drive revenues. The company uses emails for both promotions as well as for non-sales messages such as newsletters and information about events and its loyalty program to connect with its customers. The brand works with Experian Marketing Services as its ESP. In addition, the company relies on Movable Ink to help with dynamic content, which is in about 20-30 percent of the brand's emails.
  • Google Classrooms Adds Email Summaries
    Google Classroom, the company's app for schools, is adding a number of new updates including email summaries for parents. These automated emails will include summaries of what their children are learning and can be sent out daily or weekly. New updates to the app also include annotations and more virtual field trips.

    Australian Netflix has warned users to beware of an email scam in circulation. The email claims that their Netflix membership will be put on hold and that they must update information in order to avoid being locked out. The email has a link to a dynamic website that changes as a user adds their details.
  • Microsoft Partners With Litmus for Improved Email Rendering
    Microsoft has teamed up with email service Litmus to improve the experience of sending and receiving emails for both marketers and consumers. The two companies announced their partnership at The Email Design Conference (TEDC) in Boston today. With the integration, marketers that send to Outlook.com email users will be able to improve the rendering in their inboxes.
