• Work Email After Hours Leads to Burnout, New Study Finds
    Another study has come out pointing to the damaging effect of checking email after work. The latest study comes from Liuba Belkin of Lehigh University, William Becker of Virginia Tech and Samantha A. Conroy of Colorado State University. The study looked at data from 297 working adults, to track their emotions and found that emailing when they were supposed to be off hurt life work balance and led to burnout.

    Porn website Brazzers has been hacked and cyber thieves stolen more than 800,000 email IDs and passwords. The company said that many of the accounts were dormant. However, to be on the safe side, the company has since cancelled all of the accounts associated with the leak.

    Russian email service Rambler has been hacked and user data from as far back as 2012 has been exposed. The data includes user names, email addresses and passwords. Data breach monitoring service LeakedSource discovered the exposure. The service didn't use encryption tools, which made it easier or hackers to break in.
  • TalkTalk Data Breach Fine Upheld in Appeal
    TalkTalk has lost its appeal against a data breach fine for GBP1,000 fine that was imposed against the company last year. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) fined the company for not reporting the breach within 24 hours after discovering it. The court upheld the fine claiming the company didn't notify customers in time.

    Not all state.gov email addresses are secure. These email addresses are only supposed to be used for official business, nothing classified. State Department employees are supposed to use a different State Department system in order to exchange classified information electronically.

  • Microsoft Leads Fight Against DOJ in User Privacy
    Apple, Google and Amazon are among companies that are supporting Microsoft in a battle against the US government over email data. The group of 11 technology firms led by Microsoft claim that a federal law that allowing searching private data is unnecessary and infringes users' fundamental rights. The group filed a motion against the DO on Friday.   • Variety's Email System Hacked
    Hollywood news site Variety was hacked over the weekend. Hackers used the legitimate server to send out dozens of emails to the publication's email list with the hashtag Hacked by #OurMine. "Our team is working to resolve the unauthorized communications sent from Variety," the company said in a statement. "Please ignore/delete them."
