The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association has issued a warning about an increase in spam complaints among its members in the last two months. The business lobby group revealed that phishing scams aimed at businesses, including fake emails claiming to come from the Revenue Commissioners soliciting financial and tax information.

Callaway Golf, Hydro Flask, and CustomInk all saw 58 percent open rates in emails during the week leading up to Father's Day, according to metrics from eDataSource. The company, which daily tracks more than 25 million emails sent by some 50,000 brands, found that 14,600 campaigns with the words "Father's Day" in the creative were sent out last week. CustomInk, alone, saw more than 64,000 opens based on its mailing to 111,000 addresses last Monday.

The St. Louis Cardinals are being investigated for allegedly hacking into the database of the Houston Astros. A new report suggests that the hack could have taken place as early as 2012, a year earlier than first reported. The FBI is currently investigating the case.

Clutter, Microsoft's tool for organizing the inbox into different tabs similar to Gmail's Tabs, has gone live. The program began its first rollout to Office 365 users this week.Clutter automatically categorizes the relevancy of emails based on content or interactions. These messages will land in the clutter folder. Users will receive a daily email to tell them which emails were moved into the clutter folder and will get a chance to comment on if they want it there or not.

The recent massive data breach against the U.S. federal government's Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has led to a break down in trust and the rise of confusion among federal employees. The OPM recently sent out a series of emails with information about the breach, encouraging employees to follow a link to sign up for third-party credit monitoring services. However, these legitimate emails were being flagged as spam and ultimately the department stopped the email program.

Utah-based Internet Service Provider XMission has filed a lawsuit against the Florida firm Clickbooth.com alleging that the site has been sending spam messages to more than 100,000 email addresses hosted on its network. The ISP claims that the site violated the CAN-SPAM Act by continually sending unsolicited emails to its users. XMission is seeking $100 for every email address, seeking more than $60 million in damages.

The firm acquired social-software maker blueKiwi and used its app in conjunction with several tools fromMicrosoft to create a collaboration complex and reduce the volume of email sent by its teams.
