• Spark Email App Gets Update
    Spark, an email app from document reader app Readdle, has updated its iOS app. The update brings new features and fixes. For instance, the app now supports Email aliases for Google, Yahoo, and iCloud and HTML as well as text signatures. In addition the app now has an updated snooze interface.
  • Encrypted Email Service Lavaboom Shuts Down
    Email encryption services firm Lavaboom has shut down, according to a report in The Register UK. The German-based encrypted mail service was founded base don user demand after Edward Snowden revealed that the NSA was reading people's email. The firm was supported by crowdfunding but according to reports, the company didn't reach its financial goal to fully develop its product.

    Hackers have shared the email addresses, member profiles and credit card transactions of adult website Ashley Madison users after the site was hacked last month. The 10 GB file was posted as a BitTorrent download.
  • Microsoft Brings Uber Into Outlook Email Inbox
    Imagine being able to call a cab via email. Now you can. Microsoft has revealed new partnerships with third-party companies including Uber to integrate functionalities into its Outlook email platform. These add-ins allow Outlook users to manage their life via email and include partnerships with Yelp, Evernote, PayPal, and Boomerang.
  • State Department Flags 305 Clinton Emails
    Attorneys at the State Department have identified 305 emails from Hillary Clinton's private email server that may have contained classified information. And the agency has only completed 20 percent of its review of the Democratic presidential candidate's emails. The agency has to review 30,000 messages in total.
  • 34% of Consumers Check Email Throughout the Day
    Consumers either check their email all day long or not at all, according to a new report from Digital River's BlueHornet. The research found that 34 percent of American revealed that they check their email "throughout the day." Most of these people are checking email on their mobile phones, which consumers look at on average of more than 150 times a day. At the same time, 39 percent of Americans only check their email 1 to 3 times a day, according to the report.
  • Most Consumers Have Two Email Addresses
    Most consumers have two addresses, according to a new report from Digital River's Bluehornet. The 2015 edition of its Consumer Views of Email Marketing study found that 35.9 percent of consumers have two email addresses, followed by 24.1 percent who have three email addresses. Only 22.1 percent of consumers only have one email address. The research revealed that while most people have multiple email addresses only 28.6 percent keep a separate email address just for marketing messages.
  • FBI Connects Email & Twitter Accounts to Hacker in Texas
    A teenager in Texas has been caught making threats to a high school in Minnesota, after the FBI traced his email address and Twitter accounts. Nineteen year-old Zachary Lee Morgenstern sent numerous threats including one to detonate a bomb at the school through fake 911 calls. The FBI tracked down the accused by filing subpoenas to Google and Twitter and tracing the IP connection to a Comcast account in Texas.
  • AAA Warns of EZ-Pass Email Scam
    AAA is warning E-ZPass users to beware of emails claiming to come from the agency. Spammers have been sending out fake emails claiming to be toll road bills which claim to come from AAA Mid-Atlantic. The fake email solicits credit card information, social security numbers, user names and passwords.
  • Bob Woodward Compares Clinton's Emails to Nixon's Tapes
    Washington Post investigative reporter Bob Woodward has compared Hillary Clinton's private email scandal to the Nixon tapes. The award winning reporter known for his Watergate reporting told MSNBC's Morning Joe: "You've got a massive amount of data. It, in a way, reminds me of the Nixon tapes: thousands of hours of secretly recorded conversations that Nixon thought were exclusively his."
