MediaCom Canada was named media planning and buying agency of record for security company, ADT, effective immediately. The agency will provide media buying and planning services to enhance ADT’s existing media relationships and help identify new target market opportunities. In 2012, ADT spent $75 million on measured media and $32.9 million between January and June of 2013, according to Kantar Media.

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline, selected New York based digital agency, Firstborn as its lead advertising agency following a review that began in August. Firstborn will work to reposition the ANA brand globally and increase exposure within and beyond the Asian market. The agency will handle traditional and digital creative and build a strategy for 2014 that will reinvigorate the ANA brand on the global scale. The Summit Group Communications (TSG) won advertising and public relations duties for eight Subway restaurant markets in Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas. In Arkansas, TSG will handle work for Subway stores in Little Rock, Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Jonesboro. The agency was awarded Northern and Central New Jersey, based in Florham Park, NJ; New York, based in Commack, NY; and Connecticut, which includes Rhode Island, based in Fairfield, CT. The California Tobacco Control Program has issued a request for proposals for its advertising campaign. The five-year contract begins July 1, 2014 and runs through June 30, 2019. The CTCP advertising campaign would target California’s general market and selected ethnic and priority population markets to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and secondhand smoke. Terminix, a termite and pest control company, awarded its creative business to Havas Worldwide Chicago and Hawkeye Dallas, following a review. Havas will be responsible for branding, TV, and print, while Hawkeye will lead digital and direct marketing work. Publicis Dallas previously handled the account. New work will launch in early 2014. Terminix spent $8.5 million in measured media in 2012 and $6.4 million between January and June of 2013, according to Kantar Media. Periscope was named media planning and buying agency of record for Great Clips hair salons. The agency has served as Great Clips’ creative agency of record since 2011, and will now also handle all strategy, planning and buying services for TV, print and digital, starting in mid-January. CompassPoint previously handled the media account. Great Clips spent an estimated $16 million on measured media, according to Kantar Media. The brand, established in 1982, employs roughly 30,000 stylists in the U.S. and Canada.
