StarLink Worldwide will serve as media planning and buying agency of record for Illinois-based Caterpillar. StarLink will handle all media strategy and investment for Caterpillar's U.S., Latin American and Canadian business. Spending was not disclosed.
According to a New York Times story, Procter & Gamble has named the five agencies vying for expanded media planning chores on its North American account. The agencies are: MediaCom; Starcom MediaVest; Carat; MPG; and Targetbase. Billings are estimated at $4 billion.

Verizon Wireless has selected Viva as its agency of record for all Spanish-language and Hispanic national advertising media services. Verizon Wireless awarded the multimillion-dollar account to VIVA following a competitive review. Competing agencies were not disclosed. Viva is charged with all planning, purchasing and management responsibilities for the company's media programs covering Hispanic markets nationwide. The media buys encompass television, radio, cable, print, OOH, sponsorships and non-traditional media outreach.
Rapp Collins Worldwide-Dallas has been selected by SunTrust Banks, Inc. to develop and implement a range of direct marketing services. Initial assignments include customer retention and acquisition programs involving strategic planning, direct mail, creative services and data analytics. The agency will also build and manage a prospect database and create a marketing plan with new media. Spending was not disclosed. The Bedford Group, based in Atlanta, conducted the national search and agency review process.
